Personal Bio
I grew up in a small rural town called DeWitt, Michigan with my parents and sister who is 10 years younger than me. Growing up, you could find me either on the soccer field, at my grandmas, with a good book, or with my friends.
Throughout high school, I always knew that I would attend Michigan State University, but I didn't know what I wanted to do there. I have always had a love for nutrition, sports, and the body, so I decided to go that route. I started my college career in Dietetics, then switched to Kinesiology, then Nutrition, and then finally landed on Education. The decision to pursue my degree in Education was the most unexpected and rewarding experience. During my senior year I decided I needed another job, so I applied to be a Research Assistant within the iEngineering department in the College of Education. Little did I know that this position would lead me to presenting at the University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum (UURAF) and later publish an article in Science and Children Journal. During this time I developed a love for research, science education, and Project Based Learning (PBL).
Fast forward to now, I took the leap and left the mitten and currently live in St. Louis, Missouri with my husband who is finishing up his Doctorate in Chiropractic! I teach second grade in an amazing district with the best colleagues. In 2022, when my husband finishes his degree, we will move back to Michigan to pursue our careers and be closer to our families.
When I'm not teaching or spending time with my husband (if he is not studying), I have many hobbies that I like to partake in. I love to drown myself in books, get crafty, go on hikes, Netflix binge Gilmore Girls, and work out. During my time off, I love to travel back to Michigan to see my family and friends and explore the many beaches that are on Lake Michigan.
